The nominator can be an Australian citizen, a permanent resident, an eligible New Zealand citizen, or an Australian organisation — but they must have a national reputation in the same field as you. That second condition is where most searches stall.

Start from who already knows your work

Co-authors, conference organisers, industry bodies and investors are common starting points. A nominator who has followed your work is far more persuasive than a well-known name who has not.

Give them something to sign

A short, specific brief — what you achieved, why it matters, and how it connects to their own standing — turns a favour into a straightforward yes.
